I first visited New Zealand in 2003/4 with my friend Wayne. We stayed with his brother in Auckland, then got the train down the North Island to Wellington and the ferry over to Picton, where we went Kayaking. After that we made our way by bus round to Nelson and then Greymouth, where we went caving and got the trans alpine train across to Cristchurch. The next leg was to Queenstown via Lake Wannaka and on to Te Anau to get the boat across to the Milford Track. I put the sketches I did on the track up on the Web for the other walkers to see, which started a trend. After that back to Queenstown, then home.
Some years later Ruth’s daughter Jessie was touring the world, ended up in New Zealand, which she preferred to her current traveling partner, so she has never left. Since she moved there I’ve been a few times, so there are quite a lot of sketches here.
