When I came to live at this house, the shunting yard was still in operation and there would be lights and noise all night. I also used to pass it on the train at odd times for many years, particularly when I lived up here but worked down in London during the 1970’s. During the celebrations for one of Queen Elizabeth II’s jubilees, the royal train camped down there overnight. Even as a staunch republican, that appeals to my sense of history for little folk, particularly as I am writing this when she has just died. The painting was done on a tablet with Art Rage.
