Garden History

Ruth must have had some vision when she moved in here, or just fallen in love with the views. Here are some old pictures showing what it was like when she moved in and at various stages of the initial clearance and structure work. Everything has grown again since and been cleared and re-done several times, as you can see from the newer pictures.
The view from the house, where the decking patio would be.

Here’s more or less how it looked in 2016.

The view from the edge of the grass as it was

As it was around 2015, minus the arch and owl that were added after this. The world beyond has changed too. The shunting yards have closed down and the school wildlife garden has developed trees.

The view from the main steps showing the construction of the lower steps and platform.

And as it was in 2016.

The construction of the pond. The bench is in next door’s garden and the broken fence divides us from the school nature area.

Difficult to get one in 2016 because of trees in the way, though the pond has been restored and some views cleared again since this.

The view back up the garden past the old apple tree, after the highland clearances.

The bank all slippery stones and a future project in the making.

The view back up to the newly built Platform

And in 2015.
